Vacation with "campesinas" families in the northern area of Costa Rica who have been trained and organized to complement their usual activities with rural tourism. You'll experience their rural life while exploring our nature, culture and customs over 2 days and 3 nights.

- Horse back riding on the bank of La Fortuna River .

Day 1:
- (8:00 am) departure from San José
- (11:30 am) arrival to Hotel Don Bosco La Fortuna de San Carlos where your adoptive family will meet you and take you to their home.
- (12:00 md) lunch with your adoptive family.
- (2:00 pm) Medicinal Plants Tour.
We will arrive at the house of the Sandoval Berrocal family in La Fortuna, where we will take a tour through their garden of medicinal plants. Mrs. Cristina, the owner will explain the properties of medicinal and healing plants and will provide all information on the collecting process, drying and commercialization of the products that she and her family manufacture.
Recommendations: bug repellent, rubber boots (will be provided if needed), swimming suit, binoculars, sun hat.

- (5:00 pm) end of the tour and transfer to the lodge.
- (7:00 pm ) dinner with your adoptive family.
Day 2:
- (7:00 am ) breakfast with family .
- (8:30 am) horseback riding along the Fortuna River Bank.
In this tour we travel on horseback from downtown la Fortuna to 
the Fortuna River Waterfall, going through crafts markets and small agricultural and cattle farms, surrounded by wonderful views. We depart from la Fortuna very early to enjoy the freshness of the early hours. During our journey you will also appreciate the scenic beauty and majesty that Arenal Volcano offers.

Day 3
- (7:00 am) breakfast with family .
- (8:00 am) Departure to Hotel Don Bosco, La Fortuna (this transfer is on your account - the family can help you call a taxi)
- When you arrive at the Hotel, you will enjoy the Lava Hike on Arenal Volcano
- Exit to san José
Lava Hike Arenal Vocano
You'll travel 25 minutes to the far west side of the Arenal Volcano to begin the tour in Arenal National Park . You'll cross the river, and spend about 2 hours exploring the park. Your expert bilingual naturalist guide will find the animals, point out indigenous rain forest plants, and educate you on the area.
Frequent sightings include: Monkeys, Wild Boars, two types of Toucans, White-Nosed Coatis Oro Pendulas, Golden Eyelash Vipers, Boa Constrictors, and Great Curassows.
At the end of this trail you'll discover the path created by the 1992 lava flows. You have time to explore, and your guide explains the history of this magnificent volcano. One of the day's highlights is the spectacular hilltop view of the sunset over Lake Arenal .
